Board Care
Good quality boards are kitchen essentials. Like good knives, or a sturdy cast iron pan, wooden boards are investments that require proper care and maintenance.
It is important that you hand wash the board with warm water and a small amount of detergent. Towel dry immediately. Do not leave it in the washing water for long periods, prolonged exposure to heavy moisture, high heat, or direct sunlight will naturally warp wood, finished or not.
Vadim Makes boards are intended to be used as serving boards only. Sharp objects like knives will scratch and damage the finish as well as the wood surface itself.
Should your board ever need spot repair or a complete refresh, sand as needed with the highest grit sandpaper that removes the existing oil and smooths the surface. All boards come sanded to 500 grit.
Applying Odies oil regularly is recommended. The oil provides a protective layer, which protects the board from splitting and absorbing odors and stains. One jar will last you forever and can be used on any wooden surface in your home. Buff on a very small amount with a rag, let sit for an hour, then buff off until dry to the touch. Let sit for 24-48 hours before use.
